Chanakya Neeti : 3rd Chapter|| चाणक्य नीति :तीसरा अध्याय 

1. इस दुनिया  मे ऐसा किसका घर है जिस पर कोई कलंक नहीं, वह कौन है जो रोग और दुख से मुक्त है.सदा सुख किसको रहता है?|
2. मनुष्य के कुल की ख्याति उसके आचरण से होती है, मनुष्य के बोल चाल से उसके देश की ख्याति बढ़ती है, मान सम्मान उसके प्रेम को बढाता है, एवं उसके शरीर का गठन उसके भोजन से बढ़ता है|
3. लड़की का बयाह अच्छे खानदान मे करना चाहिए. पुत्र  को अचछी शिक्षा देनी चाहिए,  शत्रु को आपत्ति और कष्टों में डालना चाहिए, एवं मित्रों को धर्म कर्म में लगाना चाहिए|
4. एक दुर्जन और एक सर्प मे यह अंतर है की सर्प तभी डसेगा जब उसकी जान को खतरा हो लेकिन दुर्जन पग पग पर हानि पहुचने की कोशिश करेगा |
5. राजा लोग अपने आस पास अच्छे कुल के लोगो को इसलिए रखते है क्योंकि ऐसे लोग ना आरम्भ मे, ना बीच मे और  ना ही  अंत मे साथ छोड़कर जाते है|
6. जब प्रलय का समय आता है तो समुद्र भी अपनी मर्यादा छोड़कर किनारों को छोड़ अथवा तोड़ जाते है, लेकिन सज्जन पुरुष प्रलय के समान भयंकर आपत्ति अवं विपत्ति में भी आपनी मर्यादा नहीं बदलते|
7. मूर्खो के साथ मित्रता नहीं रखनी चाहिए उन्हें त्याग देना ही उचित है, क्योंकि प्रत्यक्ष रूप से वे दो पैरों वाले पशु के समान हैं,जो अपने  धारदार वचनो से वैसे ही हदय को छलनी करता है जैसे अदृश्य काँटा शरीर में घुसकर छलनी करता है| 
8. रूप और यौवन से सम्पन्न तथा कुलीन परिवार में जन्म लेने पर भी विद्या हीन पुरुष पलाश के फूल के समान है जो सुन्दर तो है लेकिन खुशबु रहित है|
9. कोयल की सुन्दरता उसके गायन मे है. एक स्त्री की सुन्दरता उसके अपने पिरवार के प्रति समर्पण मे है. एक बदसूरत आदमी की सुन्दरता उसके ज्ञान मे है तथा एक तपस्वी की सुन्दरता उसकी क्षमाशीलता मे है.
10. कुल की रक्षा के लिए  एक सदस्य का बिलदान दें,गाव की रक्षा के लिए एक कुल  का बिलदान  दें, देश  की रक्षा के लिए एक गाँव का बिलदान  दें, आत्मा की रक्षा के लिए देश का बिलदान  दें|
11. जो उद्यमशील हैं, वे गरीब नहीं हो सकते, जो हरदम भगवान को याद करते है उनहे पाप नहीं छू सकता, जो मौन रहते है वो झगड़ों मे नहीं पड़ते, जो जागृत रहते है वो निर्भय होते है|
12. आत्याधिक सुन्दरता के कारण सीताहरण हुआ, अत्यंत घमंड के कारण रावण का अंत हुआ,  अत्यधिक दान देने के कारण राजा बली को बंधन में बंधना पड़ा, अतः सर्वत्र अति को त्यागना चाहिए|
13. शक्तिशाली लोगों के लिए कौनसा कार्य कठिन है ? व्यापारिओं के लिए कौन सी जगह दूर है, विद्वानों के लिए कोई देश विदेश नहीं है, मधुभाषियों का कोई शत्रु नहीं|
14. जिस तरह सारा वन केवल एक ही पुष्प अवं सुगंध भरे  वृक्ष से महक जाता है उसी तरह एक ही गुणवान पुत्र  पुरे कुल का नाम बढाता है|
15. जिस प्रकार केवल एक सुखा हुआ जलता वृक्ष सम्पूर्ण वन को जला देता है उसी प्रकार एक ही कुपुत्र सरे कुल के मान, मर्यादा और प्रतिष्ठा को नष्ट कर देता है|
16. विद्वान एवं सदाचारी एक ही पुत्र के कारण सम्पूर्ण परिवार वैसे ही खुशहाल रहता है जैसे चन्द्रमा के निकालने पर रात्रि जगमगा उठती है.
17. ऐसे अनेक पुत्र किस काम के जो दुःख और निराशा पैदा करे. इससे तो वह एक ही पुत्र अच्छा है जो सम्पूर्ण घर को सहारा और शांति प्रदान करे|
18. पांच साल तक पुत्र को लाड एवं प्यार से पालन करना चाहिए, दस साल तक उसे छड़ी की मार से डराए. लेकिन जब वह १६ साल का हो जाए तो उससे मित्र के समान वयवहार करे.
19. वह व्यक्ति सुरक्षित रह सकता है जो नीचे दी हुई परिस्थितियां उत्पन्न होने पर भाग जाए- १. भयावह आपदा,२. विदेशी आक्रमण, ३. भयंकर अकाल, ४. दुष व्यक्ति का संग, 
20. जो व्यक्ति निम्नलिखित बाते अर्जित नहीं करता वह बार बार जन्म लेकर मरता है- १. धर्म , २. अर्थ, ३. काम, ४. मोक्ष
21. धन की देवी लक्ष्मी स्वयं वहां चली आती है जहाँ - १. मूर्खो का सम्मान नहीं होता|, २. अनाज का अच्छे से भणडारण किया जाता है|, ३. पति-पत्नी मे आपस मे लड़ाई बखेड़ा नहीं होता है|, 

Chanakya Neeti Chapter 3 in English:

1. Who has a house in this world which has no blemish, who is free from disease and sorrow? Who remains eternally happy?
2. The fame of a man's family increases by his conduct, the fame of his country increases by the speech of a man, respect increases his love, and the constitution of his body increases by his food.
3. The girl should be married to a good family. The son should be given good education, the enemy should be put in trouble and troubles, and the friends should be engaged in religious activities.
4. The difference between an evil man and a snake is that the snake will bite only when his life is in danger, but the evil man will try to cause harm at every step.
5. Kings keep people of good family around them because such people leave them neither in the beginning, nor in the middle, nor in the end.
6. When the time of cataclysm comes, even the sea leaves its dignity and leaves or breaks its shores, but noble men do not change their dignity even in the face of such terrible obstacles and calamities as in cataclysm.
7. One should not make friends with fools, it is better to abandon them, because apparently they are like two-legged animals, who pierce the heart with their sharp words just like an invisible thorn penetrates the body.
8. A man blessed with beauty and youth and born in a noble family, yet lacking in knowledge, is like a Palash flower which is beautiful but has no fragrance.
9. The beauty of the cuckoo lies in its singing. The beauty of a woman lies in her dedication to her family. The beauty of an ugly man lies in his knowledge and the beauty of an ascetic lies in his forgiveness.
10. Sacrifice a member to save the clan, sacrifice a clan to save the village, sacrifice a village to save the country, sacrifice the country to save the soul.
11. Those who are enterprising cannot be poor, those who always remember God cannot be touched by sin, those who remain silent do not get into fights, those who remain alert are fearless.
12. Due to excessive beauty, Sita was abducted, due to excessive pride, Ravana died, due to giving excessive charity, King Bali had to be tied in bondage, hence excess should be avoided everywhere.
13. Which task is difficult for powerful people? Which place is far for businessmen, no country or foreign country for scholars, no enemy for Madhubani speakers.
14. Just as the entire forest becomes fragrant with just one flower and fragrant tree, in the same way one virtuous son enhances the fame of the entire family.
15. Just as just one dry burning tree burns the entire forest, similarly one evil son destroys the honour, dignity and prestige of the entire family.
16. Due to having only one son who is learned and virtuous, the entire family remains happy just as the night shines when the moon rises.
17. What is the use of having so many sons who create sorrow and despair? It is better to have only one son who provides support and peace to the entire family.
18. For five years the son should be pampered and brought up with love, for ten years he should be threatened with the beating of a stick. But when he turns 16 years old, treat him like a friend.
19. A person can remain safe who runs away when the following circumstances arise: 1. Terrible disaster, 2. alien invasion, 3. severe famine, 4. Company of evil person.
20. The person who does not acquire the following things takes birth again and again and dies -1. Dharma 2. Wealth 3. Lust, 4. Salvation
21. Goddess of wealth Lakshmi herself comes where- 1. Fools are not respected., 2. Grains are stored well, 3. There is no fight between husband and wife,
